The relationship between the mind and the body has become increasingly more apparent, and the use of psychological approaches as a supplement to the treatment of physical illness is an extremely important component to healing and well being. Our clinicians have extensive experience in behavioral medicine and health psychology. Dr. Gelbart has been the director of the inpatient pain clinic at Bay Harbor Rehabilitation Center, and the outpatient pain clinic at Torrance Memorial Hospital. He and Dr. Yamaguchi have consulted to Arthritis Associates for issues of pain, fibromyalgia, and to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Torrance Memorial. We work closely with treating physicians to provide tools and techniques for physical control, and mental and cognitive adjusting and restructuring to cope with acute and chronic illness.
We provide assistance with:
Coping with chronic illness, e.g., cancer, multiple sclerosis
Cognitive behavior modification
