She has also published articles regarding the acculturation of immigrants and the implications for mental health.
At Harbor UCLA Medical Center, Dr. Rafat completed a post doctoral fellowship in the inpatient psychiatric rotation where she was trained in working with various populations including the chronically mentally ill. Other than working in private practice, Dr. Rafat has also worked at a variety of settings including skilled nursing facilities and an outpatient mental health clinic. She also has experience in care management as she worked at a managed mental health care company for several years.
Dr. Rafat works with adults and the elderly in individual and couples therapy. Her areas of interest include; cross cultural issues, women's issues, marital / relationship problems, depression, anxiety, grief and loss and adjustment issues.
